New convenors for the Early Career Researcher Network

We’re really excited to announce that our Early Career Researcher Network has some new co-convenors on the team! First up, meet Xin Miao. Xin is a final year PhD student at the University of Stirling researching geography teachers and their curriculum-making practices. Xin is based in the Faculty of Social Sciences as a Postgraduate Researcher (PGR) Cohort co-chair and rep on the Faculty’s EDI Committee. She used to teach geography in Chinese schools and international schools. She has a passion for intercultural conversations and organising events to make people from diverse backgrounds more connected and visible.

Joining Xin as a new co-convenor is Carrie Walton. Carrie is also a final year PhD student at the University of Sunderland. She works as a Specialist Projects Lead for NHS Education for Scotland and is researching the professional practice of educators in the NHS. She is an avid collector of qualifications and a passionate devotee of lifelong learning and the pursuit of personal and professional development. She’s threatening to do a statistics degree on completion of her PhD…

Our new convenors join Dr Anna Beck on the team and we’re busy in the background with ideas for the network, so watch this space for some exciting opportunities to get involved! Don’t want to miss anything? Join our mailing list to get notified.

We’d like to extend our thanks to Labake Fakunle for her hard work and dedication to our Network over her years in post. We’re grateful for all of the work Labake has put in, and wish her the very best for her future endeavours.
